Dear readers, this is my 100th post! So I reckon it should be a post of deepest meaning and significance, don't you? =)My decision to write about love was one of the easier decisions I've had to make this week.
love. i've heard about it, learned about it, read about it but my experience of it is a multi-faceted one. By God's grace, I experience love everyday. It is all around!
It is in the first ray of sunshine that streams through my window in the mornings and in the gentle drizzle on my walk to work. It's in the funny faces my director pulls at me to make me laugh and in the pedicure brochure placed on my keyboard at work by my colleague. It's in the emails I read over and over again and in the sarcastic jokes i hear through msn. It's in the gorgeous dress I wore for a wedding, painstakingly designed and handmade. It's knowing that someone will be there to catch me when I fall. It is in the way s looks at me as though I'm so much more than I actually am. It's in all the catch-ups over coffee and ice cream and yummy asian food. It's the very fact that I'm in Melbourne. It's in my very being because I've been showered with it so generously!
So thank you all, for loving me so. I don't deserve it, I don't I don't. But thank you and I love you tooooooo!!!!=)

If you tried really really hard, you will see that the weird looking girl and the even weirder looking guy (kidding honey! you know i think you're really good-looking=p) is in fact s and I in 1998. Ahh the wonders of growing up. Gone are the days of center parting and glasses, scrunchies and tightly pulled back hair.
Why helllooo there contacts and make-up=)

long awaited engagement post.
I find it so exceedingly amusing how Ann was so oblivious to what’s in store for the night and how much planning has gone into this day. It was a bright sunny day in June 2008 when I first received a message via msn from We-Ki regarding a possible proposal in December. I remembered my heart leaping for joy at the thought of another one of my dearest friends getting engaged to the love of her life.
And so it began the preparations to surprise my dear friend Ann who is not unlike the Queen of England in many ways. (kidding ann don’t disown me pls you are my aussie mommmmmmmm)
I still remember the emails bouncing back and forth between We-Ki, Clement, Lisa and I discussing the ring, the venue, the plan. It was too exciting for words!!! One of my favourite highlights was definitely ring picking.=)
And so the ring was bought toward the end of October (right We-Ki?)=) hahaha I remember We-Ki stressing out about where to hide it just in case Ann stumbles across it by some weird twist of fate. And so he concluded that the safest place would be in a beanie in his sock drawer on the top shelf. “Ann will never be able to reach it there!!,” was his gleeful explanation.
And so the big day came. Oh my goodness words fail me when I think about the things we had to do in order to keep the Queen of Suspicion at bay. The sneaking around, the secret phone calls, the confidential emails and of course our superb acting skills. =p We checked into Mandarin Oriental in the morning and spent the day at Pavilion and KLCC. The hotel room was so beautiful! Facing the park on the 28th floor was the perfect setting for the Big Event. We went for dinner then back to the hotel room to get ready for the fireworks and drinks after.
And now the real fun starts. How do we start eliminating people from the room before midnight to fulfill Ann’s childhood dream of a private proposal without raising any suspicions??
Elimination Round One
30 minutes before midnight, Wen Hao and Chuenie excused themselves to meet up with Wen Hao’s high school friends. A very believable story if I may say so myself as Wen Hao’s high school and his friends are all in the area!
Elimination Round Two (and my personal favourite)
A month before New Year, Clement sent out a decoy email to We-Ki, Ann and I stating that he has an anniversary surprise for Lisa on New Year’s Eve and if he may excuse them from the room 15 minutes before midnight. He specified to us in the decoy email that it was nothing sleazy, just personal. HAHA Ann and I had multiple theories of what the secret Lisa surprise was. I had so much fun coming up with all the ridiculous and dreaded possibilities. “CLEMENT HAS A JOB OFFER IN NEW YORK AND IS TAKING LISA AWAY FROM US ANNNN I KNOW ITTT I CAN FEEEEELLL IT IN MY BONESSSS!! HOW???” (and the Oscar goes to Nadia, seriously...=p)
So 15 minutes before midnight, Clement promptly asked Lisa to go with him. Kudos to Lisa who went all innocent, “Har? What surprise? What if we miss the fireworks?=((“
Elimination Round Three
The plan was for Chuen to call me every 2 minutes from 11.50 and I had to pretend that it was annoying me because I didn’t want to miss the fireworks!! Alas, we did not cater for the fact that all the phone lines were down because that’s what usually happens on New Year’s Eve when everyone is sms-ing everyone they know. And so the panicking started… Desperate times calls for desperate measures so the instant the first firework started, I picked up a non-existent phonecall mumbling that it was s and that I had to take it and dashed out of the room.
10 minutes later back at the room…
CONGRATULATIONS ANN AND WE-KI!!! You guys getting engaged is such a highlight of 2008 and 2009 for me. If it isn't obvious already, I really do love you guys to bits...=)
